Mountain bikers enter the digital age with Shimano XTR Di2
XTR M9050 Di2 system debuts intuitive, customizable shifting
OSAKA, Japan (May 31, 2014 – 12:00am Osaka time) – Following over half a decade of proven Di2 electronic shifting systems, Shimano introduces XTR M9050 Di2, the world’s first production electronic mountain bike shifting system. An electronic shifting option for Shimano’s new 11-speed XTR M9000 mechanical mountain bike components, XTR Di2 redefines how mountain bikers can control and personalize the way they ride through the proven Di2 digital platform.
Shimano XTR M9050 Di2 electronic shifting integrates with XTR M9000 mechanical components in a variety of Race or Trail “Rider Tuned” 1x, 2x, or 3x drivetrain configurations. The new 11-speed XTR M9000 drivetrain introduces Rhythm Step gearing which provides range and ensures rhythm, no matter the rider or terrain. With the additional efficiency, new shifting options and personalization of the digital Di2 system, riders now can control their ride like never before.
Rediscover control. Rediscover efficiency. Discover Di2.
Shimano's XTR M9050 Di2 shifting system brings the seamless control and instant response that only digital shifting can provide to the M9000 Rhythm Step drivetrain. This ushers in the digital age for mountain bikers, giving them control over their ride experience, no matter their discipline, like never before.
Pairing Di2 with close gear steps means that shifting becomes a reflex. Decreased shift
effort and superior ergonomics allow you to shift without decreasing your grip on the handlebar, keeping you in perfect control of both your bicycle and your effort. Your on-bike readiness will reach new heights with XTR Di2. As soon as the thought of a shift springs to mind, you can instantaneously react.
The programmable, customizable, expandable E-tube Di2 platform brings a quantum leap in personalization to mountain biking. XTR Di2 is going to change the way you ride. How it changes is entirely up to you.
Shimano's new XTR Di2 M9050 family features the optional Shimano Synchronized Shift, allowing for customizable synchronized front and rear shifting via a single FIREBOLT shifter. By simplifying the rider interface, shifting a mountain bike will have never felt so natural.
The M9050 derailleurs communicate gear position and automatically execute front and rear shifts when a rider asks for a sequentially larger or smaller gear. This improves efficiency by minimizing time spent on smaller chainrings and cogs.
Thanks to the programmable options with the Di2 platform, riders can choose when front shifts occur based on terrain and personal preferences. An audible alarm will warn of an upcoming front derailleur shift so that a rider can choose to remain in a given gear. Additionally, on a mountain bike with both front and rear FIREBOLT shifters installed, the rider can manually override shifts at any time, creating perfect cadence control. With Shimano Synchronized Shift your experience on a mountain bike has never been this intuitive, this personalized, this connected or this focused.
